PURPOSE OF THE WEST ASHLEY HIGH SCHOOL BAND BOOSTER CLUB

The purpose of the organization will be to provide financial assistance and spontaneous service to the band program at West Ashley High School located in Charleston, South Carolina.  The organization shall promote a positive image to the students, aid in the development of student involvement, promote student leadership, support the schools curriculum and activities, assist and support the band director, as well as other objectives that are necessary, desirable, and consistent with the purposes as set forth above.  The group shall operate within the laws of a true non-profit organization in that no part of it's earnings shall inure to the benefit of an individual or group of individuals.  All financial distributions shall be made for the furtherance of one or more of the purposes above.

OCTOBER and NOVEMBER BOOSTER CLUB MEETING MINUTES

Meeting Minutes
Tuesday October 21, 2003


The meeting was called to order by Band Booster's President John Burbage.  He thanked everyone for attending the meeting.  Ms. Sharon Linen volunteered to coordinate the parent's bus for the State Championship on November 1st.  The cost to ride the bus os $20.00.  54 seats need to be reserved.
 
Mr Wingate will be issuing band letters to the students after band practice.  Senior band members received handouts about the senior jackets that will be presented to them at the October 25th football game.

 

Thanks to the parents, chaperones, equipment crew, Roadcats, and everyone who participated in the Mooresville, NC trip.

 

Morgan Stanley is the chairperson for the Boston Butt Sale and Tina McCartney will be his assistant.  Morgan is asking each band member to start selling at least two or more Boston Butts for $20.00 each.  The goal is to sell at least 400 Boston Butts this year.  Volunteers, cooks, and grills are needed.  All orders are due on Tuesday, October 18th and orders will need to be picked up by 6:00 PM before Thanksgiving Break.

 

Reports:

 

Secretarys September 23rd Meeting Minutes were accepted without corrections.

 

John reminded parents in order to meet the bands budget it was estimated that approximately $565.00 per student was needed for the band to operate.

 

Treasurers Report Treasurer reported a balance of $2,870.65.

  

Fundraisers:

 

Fresh Fruit Sale Fundraisers are in progress.  Tina McCartney thanked the neighborhood team parents for volunteering.  The final deadline is November 21, 2003.

 

Friends of the Band:  John reminded parents that each student is asked to sell at least $100.00.

 

Reserve Parking:   Is well underway.  Ron and Terri Austin have done a great job.

 

Concession Stand:   Joyce Ishmael indicated, Parents are needed to work the home games concession stands.

 

Shirts for Band Parents:  Available for $22.00. Please place orders with Stacy Douglas.

Announcements:

 

***       Parents parking and pick up after games and events will be in the teachers parking lot.   Please keep the bus loop and in front of the band room clear at all times.

 

***       Band students need to help unload and place equipment in the band room from the trailer after competitions.

Meeting Minutes

Tuesday, November 18, 2003

 

The meeting was called to order by Band Boosters President John Burbage.  John reminded everyone that Fruit Fundraiser monies are due Friday 21st.  No monies will be accepted after Friday.  Orders will be available for pickup from the school December 18.

 

John thanked everyone for everything that has been accomplished this year. 

 

Thanks given to individuals and committees for support of the band.

 

Band Letters from last year are still here.  Please see Mr. Wingate after band practice, if you are in need of a Band Letter. 

 

Concerns were addressed that the same parents are continually tasked to fund and support the Band.  John reminded parents in order to meet the bands budget it was estimated that approximately $565.00 per student was needed for the band to operate.

 

Band Booster Board will be meeting the 1st Week in January for planning.

 

Special thanks to the Chris and Ron Christopher for their work with the RoadCats.  Honorary Friends of The Band sign will be dedicated in their honor for all their hard work and dedication.

 

Volunteer team is needed for spring garage sale. 

 

The bands website contains all information pertaining to the Band. 

 

Coming Events: Parade at Parkers Ferry, November 22nd, Charleston Christmas Parade, December 7th and Holiday concert, December 16th.

Treasurers Report Treasurer reported an estimated balance of $1,889.00; Fruit Fundraiser money has not been credited to the account. Transportation fees of $12,900.00 for buses.  $706.00 deposited for Boston Butt.  Several Flags are available with school crest - $15.00 each.

 

Kim Sexton - stated that Pictures on the Website are available for sale tonight and at the Christmas performance for $1.00 each and proceeds will be donated to the band. Cookout at Mooresville, SC was very successful and greatly appreciated.  Special thanks given to participants and businesses that donated to the cookout.

 

Mr. Shealy  - Explained the events and results of the Mooresville, SC competition.  Meeting to be held with Junior and Sophomore officers for next year planning.  Thanked Roadcats, chaperones, and parents for their never ending support.  Dress wear needed for the Winter Festival explained and handout coming home tomorrow.

 

Fundraisers:

 

Boston Butt:  All orders are due tonight and orders will need to be picked up by 6:00 PM before Thanksgiving Break.

 

Friends of the Band:  PJ reminded parents that each student is asked to sell at least $100.00.  Response is very low.  Information is on the Band Website.  Individuals contributing will have reserved seats at the Winter Festival.

 

Chaperones: Parade chaperones will be posted on Website.
