The West Ashley High School Concert Band program is divided
into four separate groups Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, and Beginning Band.
Membership in Wind Ensemble is determined by chair placement auditions. Students
are expected to know senior All-State Band requirements. Wind Ensemble is the top performing concert band at West Ashley
High School. Wind Ensemble has performed twice, 1988 & 1996, at the SCMEA Convention.
2003 SCBDA CONCERT FESTIVAL CLASS V, SUPERIOR RATING
Symphonic Band is the second primary performing concert ensemble at West Ashley High
School. Students are expected to know Clinic and Senior All-State requirements based on their grade level.
2003 SCBDA Concert Festival Class IV, Excellent Rating
Concert Band is the third performing ensemble at West Ashley High
School. Students enrolled in Concert Band do not participate in marching band activities. Concert Band performs
at the Winter Concert, Spring Concert, and Concert Festival.

Beginning Band
Beginning Band is a beginning level instrumental instruction class
offered to 9th- 12th graders.
